Becky Lloyd is the director of the Audubon Yoga Studio and is a Level 3 Certified Iyengar yoga instructor. Becky founded Audubon Yoga Studio in 2000.

Becky is a dedicated Iyengar yoga practitioner. For 30 years she has been deepening her yoga practice by studying with the Iyengar family at their Institute in Pune, India, as well with Senior Iyengar teachers Rebecca Lerner, Randy Just and Patricia Walden. She was fortunate to have Karin O’Bannon as her mentoring teacher for many years until Karin’s passing in 2013. She and Karin established a vibrant teacher study group in New Orleans for practitioners from all parts of the country. Becky has enjoyed mentoring numerous students throughout the years, many of whom have become Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers.

Becky playfully balances the precise nature of Iyengar yoga with the wisdom offered in the yoga sutras. She received a BA in music and considers the sequencing of asanas for each class much like a composition in which the body and mind are taken through stages of movement and stability with the goal of connecting with our Divine nature. She calls this approach ‘Divine Play’. She is passionate about providing a safe and accessible space for everyone at any stage in their life, regardless of ability or previous experience.

Becky finds joy and inspiration in nature while traveling, camping, and bird watching. She has been an active volunteer with Audubon Louisiana working with shorebird surveys and the Prothonotary Warbler Nest Box Projects in Jean Lafitte. New Orleans has been her home since 1987.

Susan Brower discovered yoga in 1976, and it has been a significant part of her life ever since. She has been teaching since 2011, and achieved Iyengar Level I Certification in 2015. She owes much to her teachers: Becky Lloyd, Randy Just, Karin O’Bannon, and many others. Susan is passionate about sharing yoga. She believes that every body at any age can benefit through the physical comfort and deep awareness that yoga brings.

Beginners as well as more experienced practitioners are welcome to her classes. Susan helps guide students to become present in both their bodies and their minds.

Susan recently retired from her career in audio-visual production and services. While not on the mat she enjoys reading and discussing novels, walking and biking, birdwatching, gardening, crocheting, and, most recently, Facetiming with her granddaughter in (the other) L.A.

As you can see from the photo, Kathy O’Shaughnessy has had multiple reincarnations within this life time. As a little girl she was in love with Jesus, so as a very young adult she married Him for a time. Later her affections switched to “My Sweet Lord” Krishna, followed by devotion and dedication to Isvara. Her careers have included car mechanic, house painter, shipper, and art gallery administrator, as well as yoga instructor. She is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher having completed her introductory certification in 2013. Kathy became a certified teacher for two reasons: to deepen her own practice, and to be able to share with others her love of the path and practice of yoga, in particular Iyengar yoga.

Kathy has lived in New Orleans since 1963, but did not start her Iyengar yoga practice until 2000 at age 55. She has continued at Audubon Yoga with Becky as her mentor since then. She has completed many yoga workshops with both national and international senior Iyengar teachers, as well as attending Iyengar Yoga Conventions. In 2016 she spent a month in India being taught by the Iyengar family.
